Description

Adaptive Learn-to-Skate Program
Presented by the Prince George Figure Skating Club (PGFSC)
The Prince George Figure Skating Club (PGFSC) offers an inclusive, sensory-friendly learn-to-skate program tailored for children who need a supportive and adapted environment. Our program allows children to learn at their own pace with individualized attention.
Traditional skating lessons can sometimes feel overwhelming. To make skating accessible and enjoyable for everyone, we provide small group sizes, sensory considerations, and modified teaching approaches.
Who Is This Program For?
Our program is uniquely designed for children with diverse needs, including:
  • Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)
  • Down Syndrome
  • Sensory processing differences
  • Hearing or visual impairments
  • Children who require assistance with emotional regulation
Program Highlights
  • Individualized Attention: Smaller group sizes ensure your child gets the focus they need.
  • Specialized Support: We utilize additional support staff and adaptive equipment as required.
  • Comfortable Environment: Lessons are adapted to minimize sensory overload.
Benefits of Adaptive Skating
Beyond learning a new skill, skating offers incredible physical and social benefits:
  • Physical Fitness: A great sensory-friendly exercise option.
  • Skill Development: Helps improve balance, core strength, and coordination.
  • Community Connection: Provides an opportunity for social interaction and local community participation.
